The Family of the Shooting Victims in Papua Expresses Their Gratitude to the National Police and the Government for Their Care and Assistance

Purwakarta, June 6, 2025 — Two bodies of civilians from Purwakarta who were victims of violence in Papua finally arrived at their hometowns safely and properly. The return of the bodies of Rahmat Hidayat (45) and Saepudin (39) who were killed in the shooting by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Asotipo District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua, was met with grief and sadness by the family and residents of Sukajadi Village, Purwakarta.

The return of the two bodies cannot be separated from the role and attention of the police and the government who are moving quickly in the evacuation process, handling, and repatriation to the area of origin. For this matter, the family expresses its deepest gratitude to the National Police, especially the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz, as well as the central and regional governments for the attention and assistance that has been given.

“On behalf of the Head of the Sukajadi Village Government, on behalf of the family of the deceased Saepudin, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to the National Police and the government for helping the process of repatriating the bodies from Papua to their home safely and properly. This means a lot to us,” said one of the family representatives.

Thank you also came from Ratna, the wife of the late Rahmat Hidayat, who admitted that she did not expect that the process of handling the body and repatriation took place quickly and received serious attention from the state.

“I represent the extended family to express my gratitude to the Republic of Indonesia Police and the local government for helping the repatriation process of my husband’s body. We can’t repay anything, except praying for the police and all those involved to always be protected by Allah SWT,” he said while holding back tears.

Ratna also expressed her hope that in the future, there will be no more innocent civilians who become victims of violence in Papua.

“We hope there will be no more victims like this. Hopefully the security in Papua will recover soon, and the National Police together with the government can continue to protect the people wherever they are,” he concluded.

The victim’s family statement reflects that the presence of the state through the National Police and the government is not only in the form of law enforcement, but also in real action when its citizens experience disasters. Operation Peace Cartenz as part of the effort to achieve stability in Papua also confirms its commitment to continue to be present and work to maintain security and uphold human values.

The repatriation of the victim’s body is not just an administrative process, but also a real proof that the state does not allow its people to fight on their own in grief. In the midst of security challenges, caring and empathy become a force that strengthens the nation’s solidarity.
