PAPUA — The bodies of two civilian workers who fell victim to an armed attack in Jayawijaya Regency were returned to their hometown in West Java on Thursday, June 5, 2025. The victims, Rahmat Hidayat (45) and Saepudin (39), were residents of Purwakarta Regency who were shot and killed by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) while working on the construction of a house of worship in Kwantapo Village, Asotipo District.
The repatriation process began at Wamena Airport, where the bodies were flown aboard a Trigana Cargo aircraft with registration number PK-YSV at 8:45 AM local Papua time (WIT). Upon arrival at Sentani Airport in Jayapura at around 9:40 AM WIT, the bodies were immediately transferred to the Garuda Cargo warehouse for further transport to Jakarta via Garuda Indonesia cargo services, scheduled for 2:00 PM WIT on the same day.
Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., Chief of Cartenz Peace Operation, expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families and emphasized that this brutal act would not go unanswered.
“This is a heinous act against innocent civilians. These men were contributing to the construction of a place of worship. We will not remain silent. Our joint task force is actively pursuing the perpetrators,” Faizal said in his statement.
Echoing the message, Chief of Public Relations for Cartenz Peace Ops, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public to stay calm and report any suspicious activities in their surroundings.
“We call on all residents, especially in Jayawijaya, to remain calm and vigilant. If you see anything suspicious, please report it immediately to the nearest authorities. Community cooperation is essential for maintaining public safety,” he said.
As of now, joint security forces from the Jayawijaya Police, the Law Enforcement Task Force, and the Cartenz Peace Ops Strike Force continue to conduct patrols and search operations in high-risk areas to track down those responsible.
