Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 Hands Over Suspect Iyoktogi Telenggen to Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office

Wamena, Highland Papua — The Law Enforcement Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz (ODC) 2025, through the Sub-Task Force for Investigation in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Unit of Yahukimo Police, officially handed over the suspect and evidence (Stage II) under the name Iyoktogi Telenggen alias Upinip Telenggen alias Upinip Kogoya to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday (June 3, 2025).

The handover was conducted following the completion of the case file, which had been declared complete or P21 by the prosecutor’s office. It included the transfer and escort of the detainee from the Yahukimo Police Detention Center to Wamena Penitentiary. The suspect is implicated in a case of premeditated murder and aggravated assault, as stipulated in Article 340 of the Indonesian Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) Number 1 of the Criminal Code, as well as other subsidiary articles. The penalty for violating Article 340 includes the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum prison term of 20 years. The suspect has now been officially handed over for further legal proceedings.

The transfer process began in stages on June 2, 2025, with strict security provided by joint personnel. On June 3, 2025, at 14:51 WIT, the Stage II process was officially conducted at the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office and concluded at 16:18 WIT after the suspect was placed in Wamena Penitentiary.

Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of the Operation Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that this action reflects the strong commitment of the Indonesian National Police, particularly Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz, in firmly addressing acts of violence in Papua.

“This demonstrates the seriousness of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz in ensuring that perpetrators of armed violence who have caused unrest and claimed lives in Papua are brought to justice. We will continue to pursue each investigation process to the prosecution stage professionally and thoroughly,” stated Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the people of Papua to remain calm and support law enforcement efforts.

“We encourage all members of the community to maintain a peaceful environment and not be easily influenced by groups seeking to divide our unity. Trust the legal process to the law enforcement authorities who are working professionally,” said Chief Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo.

Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 remains fully committed to being present among the community to ensure safety and maintain public order throughout the Papua region. In particular, the Task Force will continue to take firm action against armed criminal groups that threaten peace and the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia in Papua.
