Following Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Attack, Yahukimo Police Officer Referred to Bhayangkara Level I Hospital, Kramat Jati, Jakarta

Jayapura — A member of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier Police Officer Second Class (Bripda) Josua Ridwan Oberlin Nainggolan (22 years old), who was injured in an attack by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Highland Papua, has been referred to Bhayangkara Level I Hospital, Police Medical Center (Pusdokkes Polri), Kramat Jati, Jakarta for further medical treatment.

The medical evacuation was carried out on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 1:30 PM Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT) via Sriwijaya Air, after Bripda Josua had received initial treatment at Bhayangkara Level II Hospital Jayapura.

The Head of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Operations, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that additional personnel will be deployed to strengthen security in Yahukimo and surrounding areas.

“We have ordered the deployment of additional forces to reinforce security in Dekai and its surroundings, to ensure stability and prevent further disturbances by armed groups,” said Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani.

“The National Police will not stand by in the face of any threats against personnel or the public. Operation Peace Cartenz will continue to be maximized to maintain a secure and conducive situation,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of Bhayangkara Level II Hospital Jayapura, Police Superintendent Dr. Rommy Sebastian, M.Kes., M.H., CPM, reported that Bripda Josua was in stable condition at the time of his referral.

“The patient received appropriate medical treatment in Jayapura. The referral to Jakarta aims to ensure he receives intensive care from a team of specialist doctors at Bhayangkara Hospital Kramat Jati. We ask for the public’s prayers for Bripda Josua’s full recovery and return to duty,” explained Dr. Rommy.

In a separate statement, the Head of Public Relations for Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., confirmed that the situation in Yahukimo following the attack is now under control. He also urged the public to remain calm and continue daily activities as normal.

“We assure that the current situation in Yahukimo Regency, especially in Dekai, is safe and under control. Community activities are running normally, and our personnel remain on alert to ensure security,” said Chief Commissioner Yusuf.

“We also encourage everyone to pray for Bripda Josua’s recovery and support the Police in creating a peaceful and secure Papua,” he added.

The National Police, through Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, remains committed to safeguarding security in Papua and providing maximum protection for the community.
