Jayapura, May 16, 2025 — The decisive but professional steps were again shown by the Operation Peace Cartenz in upholding the rule of law in Papua. On Friday morning, the law enforcement task force from the Investigation Sub-Unit handed over the suspect Yuni Enumbi along with the evidence to the Jayapura District Attorney’s Office, marking the continuation of the legal process against armed criminal actors who have been troubling the community.
Yuni Enumbi, who is known as one of the important nodes in the illegal firearms circulation network in the mountainous area of Papua, was handed over to the prosecutor after the case file was declared complete (P-21) by the Papua High Prosecutor’s Office. This surrender also includes hundreds of ammunition, long and short barrel firearms, as well as cash and vehicles suspected of being used in illegal activities.
Brigadier General of Police. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, as the Head of Operation Damai Cartenz, emphasized that this step not only shows the success of the apparatus in uncovering the armed network, but also becomes part of a strategic approach to restore a sense of security in the community.
“This action is not just enforcing the law, but also a form of state commitment to protect the Papuan people from violence and threats from armed groups,” said Brigadier General Faizal.
Moreover, this submission shows that the legal process is carried out in an accountable manner and according to procedures, involving two public prosecutors who directly examine and verify the evidence.
In his statement, Chied Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz, emphasized that his party will continue to prioritize a professional and humanist approach in every action step. He appealed to all citizens not to be easily provoked by parties who want to destroy Papuan peace with weapons and intimidation.
“Papua is not a battlefield. Papua is a peaceful land, and the law must be enforced so that people can live peacefully and productively,” said Chief Commissioner Yusuf.
With this handover, the Operation Peace Cartenz emphasized that the country is present with a strict but humane face of law. The handling of armed groups will not only be seen from the aspect of strength, but also from the consistency of fair and transparent law enforcement.
The Yuni Enumbi case is expected to be a strong message for other criminal networks that Papua is not a safe place for illegal activities. In the future, law enforcement will continue to be controlled by the principles of justice, for the sake of creating a safe, prosperous, and dignified Papua.
