Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 Hands Over Aske Mabel to Wamena District Attorney, Presents Firearms as Evidence

Wamena – The Law Enforcement Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the law in Papua by officially handing over a suspect, Aske Mabel, along with key evidence to the Wamena District Attorney’s Office, Jayawijaya Regency, on Wednesday (May 21, 2025).

This handover, which marked the second phase (Stage II) of the legal process, was led directly by IPTU Rusdyanto, S.H., the 2nd Investigator Unit Leader of the Sub-Task Force for Investigation. The operation was carried out under tight security from Jayapura to Wamena. The suspect was received by Public Prosecutors Dr. Kusufi Esti Ridliani, S.H., M.H., and Rizki Saputra.

Aske Mabel is suspected of involvement in aggravated theft and illegal possession of firearms. Along with the suspect, the task force also submitted vital evidence, including two AK-2000p long-barreled assault rifles, two magazines, 71 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition, one SS1 magazine, and several supporting items.

The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that this step reflects the Indonesian National Police’s (Polri) dedication to a professional and fair legal process.

“This Stage II handover shows that we are working in a structured manner and in accordance with legal procedures. The legal process against armed criminal offenders will continue to be strictly monitored until completion,” affirmed Brig. Gen. Faizal.

He also expressed appreciation for the synergy between investigators, prosecutors, and other law enforcement entities involved in the process.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public not to be swayed by propaganda or calls that incite violence or lawbreaking.

“We encourage all communities, particularly in the Central Highlands of Papua, to help maintain public security and order. Active public participation is essential to achieving a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Papua,” said Chief Commissioner Yusuf.

In addition to the firearm theft case, Aske Mabel is also under investigation for alleged involvement in premeditated murder. The case file is currently being finalized before proceeding to Stage I submission to the prosecutor’s office.
