JAKARTA – Esau Tegai, a community leader from Papua, expressed his support for the government’s initiative under President Prabowo Subianto to implement the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program in Papua. He views this program as a strategic step to ensure optimal nutrition for children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers, aiming to create a strong Papua generation with the potential to become a driving force for regional development.
In a statement received by JPNN.com on Monday (May 19), Esau emphasized that the implementation of MBG in Papua is part of President Prabowo’s commitment to realizing Indonesia’s Dream of 2045. He added that, as a community leader in Jayapura Regency, he is determined to fully support this program as a fundamental foundation in addressing nutritional issues in Papua.
Furthermore, Esau highlighted that the success of this program will not only improve the health status of Papua’s community but also serve as an initial step in developing human resources (HR) capable of competing globally. “This program is very important to ensure that Papua’s children grow up healthy, intelligent, and highly competitive. Strong collaboration among the government, community, and private sector is essential for the program’s effectiveness and maximum benefits,” he stated.
Additionally, he appreciated the government’s efforts to expand the MBG program across various regions in Papua, believing it will strengthen the foundation for fair and equitable national development. Through these efforts, it is hoped that the living standards of Papua’s people will improve and that the region’s progress will be sustainable.
