Repositioning & Reconstruction of Assault Case in Yahukimo, Police Reaffirm Commitment to Law Enforcement

Yahukimo, Papua — The Damai Cartenz-2025 Task Force, in collaboration with the Yahukimo Police, conducted a repositioning and reconstruction of an attempted murder and assault case involving a civilian, Agnes G. Kasihiuw. The activities took place at three different locations in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, as part of efforts to enforce the law and ensure transparent case investigation.

During the reconstruction process, authorities brought in the main suspect, Ivan Kabak, to reenact his role. Meanwhile, four other suspects, who remain at large, were represented by stand-ins. Stand-in actors also reenacted the victim’s role and that of several witnesses.

“This activity is an important step in uncovering the complete chronology of events and ensuring that the legal process proceeds professionally,” said Head of Damai Cartenz-2025 Operations, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, on Tuesday (13/5).

The repositioning and reconstruction began at the first crime scene (TKP 1), which was moved to the Yahukimo Police Headquarters for security reasons. It then continued to TKP 2 at Kali Wo Bridge, the main location of the attempted murder, where scenes of the chase, stabbing attempt, and rescue of the victim were reenacted. Lastly, TKP 3 reconstructed the process of recording and deleting a declaration video by the perpetrators.

Brigadier General Faizal emphasized that law enforcement efforts require public support and should not be influenced by misleading information. “We are committed to maintaining security in Papua and ensuring that every case is handled transparently and fairly,” he stated.

The suspects are charged under Article 340 in conjunction with Articles 53, 55, 56 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) or Article 351 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Articles 55, 56 KUHP, with a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment. Currently, Ivan Kabak has been apprehended, while four others remain on the wanted list (DPO).

The Public Relations Chief of the Damai Cartenz-2025 Task Force, Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, added that this activity also aims to strengthen evidence and support the investigation and resolution of the case.

“This repositioning and reconstruction demonstrate the authorities’ seriousness in thoroughly investigating criminal acts that threaten the safety of civilians in Yahukimo,” he stressed.

Through the Damai Cartenz Operation, the National Police remains committed to being present within the Papuan community, maintaining security, upholding the law professionally, and fostering a peaceful and safe environment in the Land of Cenderawasih.
