Jayapura, May 13, 2025 — Papuan academic Dr. Alfie Saninan, S.Th., M.Pd., has called on students in Papua not to be easily swayed by ideologies that contradict national values. He also encouraged the younger generation to support the implementation of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 as an effort to maintain stability in the Land of Papua.
In his statement in Jayapura on Tuesday (5/13), Dr. Alfie highlighted the increasing number of external issues that are influencing the perspectives of young people, particularly students. Although the security situation in Papua is generally conducive, he warned students not to be carried away by misleading information.
“Students are agents of change who should focus on academic achievement and contribute to creating a peaceful atmosphere in Papua. Do not allow ideologies that oppose the nation’s founding principles to divide our unity,” said Dr. Alfie.
He emphasized the important role of students as guardians of national values and pioneers of peace within society. On this occasion, Dr. Alfie also expressed his appreciation for the Peace Cartenz 2025 Task Force, which he said had played a significant role in maintaining security and order in Papua.
“Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 is a concrete step toward ensuring Papua’s stability. All elements of society — churches, traditional leaders, government officials, and academics — must unite in supporting this peaceful initiative for a safe and prosperous Papua,” he added.
In closing, Dr. Alfie reminded everyone of the importance of unity within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). “Papua is an integral part of Indonesia. Let us safeguard this land with a spirit of brotherhood and peace,” he concluded.
