Jayapura, May 13, 2025 – Papuan academic Dr. Alfie Saninan, S.Th., M.Pd., has called on students across Papua to refrain from engaging in ideologies that contradict national values and to fully support the implementation of Cartenz Peace Operation 2025. His statement was delivered in Jayapura on Tuesday (May 13), in response to the growing involvement of young people in emerging issues—both domestic and those influenced by international opinion.
“The overall security situation in Papua remains stable. However, several trending issues—some of which stem from abroad—are currently circulating in society and beginning to influence students’ perspectives,” said Dr. Alfie.
He emphasized that students, as agents of change, should stay focused on their academic activities on campus and steer clear of ideologies that could undermine the nation’s foundational values.
“Think and act like students who love Indonesia and are committed to peace on this land,” he added.
Dr. Alfie also expressed appreciation for the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025 Task Force, which he believes has played a major role in maintaining stability and security in Papua. He called on all elements of society—including churches, traditional leaders, government officials, and academics—to work together in support of ongoing peace efforts.
“The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) is part of who we are. Let us work hand in hand to keep Papua safe, peaceful, and prosperous,” he concluded.
