Jayapura, Papua – The Papua Provincial Government has reaffirmed its commitment to three key development pillars: Healthy Papua, Educated Papua, and Productive Papua. Acting Head of the Papua Development Planning Agency (Bapperida), Jimmy Thesia, emphasized that these programs will drive inclusive economic growth across the region.
The priority initiatives will be integrated into the 2026 Regional Development Work Plan (RKPD), with special attention given to unlocking the economic potential of indigenous communities. A strategic blueprint for the Tabi and Saireri regions will guide targeted investments in local resources and infrastructure.
“This Musrenbang (Development Planning Forum) has produced critical recommendations for the final RKPD, which will also be proposed at the National Development Forum to align provincial and national priorities,” Thesia stated during the closing session of the two-day forum at Sasana Krida on Friday (30/4/2025).
Identification of regional development challenges and priority interventions.
Harmonization of local programs with national agendas, including special autonomy (Otsus) fund allocations.
50 out of 90 proposed sub-projects from nine Papua regencies/cities were shortlisted for further review in the Provincial Government’s work plan.
Acting Regional Secretary Suzana Wanggai acknowledged fiscal constraints but stressed the need for tangible impacts. “This forum ensures our policies directly address community needs. The results will inform high-level discussions at the National Musrenbang in Jakarta,” she said.
