The Mimika Regency Government, through the Department of Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land Affairs, held a land procurement socialization event for public interest development involving all regional government agencies (OPD). Mimika Deputy Regent Emanuel Kemong emphasized the importance of this initiative to address land issues amid rapid regional development.
According to Kemong, land procurement must comply with Law No. 2 of 2012 and Ministerial Regulation ATR/BPN No. 19 of 2021 to ensure the process is transparent, participatory, and protects community land rights. He also stated that the local government must prepare adequate land in advance to ensure asset availability when development begins.
Head of the Department, Willem Naa, stated that the socialization aims to provide OPDs with a comprehensive understanding of land procurement procedures, including compensation mechanisms and dispute resolution. This initiative is expected to create an orderly, fair land procurement process and accelerate development in Mimika.
