Building Trust and Preserving Peace: A Humanitarian Approach by the Damai Cartenz-2025 Public Relations Task Force in Hamadi

On Monday morning, May 5, 2025, there was a different atmosphere in the fishing village of Hamadi, South Jayapura District. Amid the daily hustle and bustle of coastal life, members of the Damai Cartenz-2025 Public Relations Task Force arrived with a message of peace. Led by First Police Inspector I Gde Pradana S. S.Ds. and Second Police Inspector Syahrir Mahyuddin, S.H., this visit was more than a routine outreach—it was a gesture of empathy and human connection between law enforcement and the local community.

On Perikanan Street, the laughter of children echoed as they received food packages handed out by the task force. Adults welcomed the officers warmly, grateful not just for the assistance, but for the genuine approach. The event radiated a sense of togetherness, showing that safety and trust can grow from sincere relationships.

During the visit, officers took the opportunity to share public safety messages, encouraging residents to help maintain peace and stability in their neighborhood. They also urged locals not to be swayed by misinformation or incitement from groups with criminal or political motives.

Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., Head of the Damai Cartenz-2025 Operation, emphasized that the visit was part of a broader strategy to prevent potential security threats. Joined by Deputy Operation Head Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., Brig. Gen. Faizal explained that political criminal groups still pose a risk, and empowering the public with accurate information is vital to preventing unlawful actions.

“We want the community to remain vigilant and not be easily provoked by those who aim to disrupt public safety,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal.

Meanwhile, Head of the PR Task Force, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., stressed the importance of strong community collaboration. He noted that a peaceful and secure Papua can only be achieved through joint efforts between citizens and law enforcement.

“Public support is the key to creating a safe and harmonious environment. With strong collaboration, we can preserve peace in Papua,” he affirmed.

The day’s activities ended on a hopeful and heartfelt note. More than just distributing aid, the visit fostered trust—an essential foundation for building lasting peace and security in Papua.
