Timika, Central Papua — The Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) Mimika Regency held an activity to harmonize the harmony of religious people and interfaith prayer, Wednesday (4/30/2025), as a strategic step to strengthen the harmony between religious communities and realize Mimika as a city of harmony.
The activity that took place in Timika is part of the program synchronization efforts between the central and regional governments in introducing, strengthening, and disseminating the values of harmony in the community.
Chairman of FKUB Mimika Regency, Jeffrey C. Hutagalung, in his speech emphasized the importance of building the mental and spiritual community through activities that strengthen unity in the midst of diversity.
“All of this is to weave togetherness and strengthen the value of religious harmony, as well as forming the spiritual mental resilience of the Mimika people,” he said.
Mimika Regent, Johannes Rettob, who was also present at the event, gave appreciation to the efforts of FKUB and all elements of the community who continue to maintain the spirit of tolerance in this area. He mentioned that Mimika until now has become one of the areas where tolerance between religious people is still well maintained.
“Positive activities like this need to continue to be improved. I hope, in the future, there are no factors that interfere with the harmony of religious people in Mimika. We want the whole community to be able to live side by side, do activities safely, comfortably, and full of peace,” said Johannes.
Furthermore, the Regent emphasized that the Mimika Regency Government is committed to supporting the development of religious people without discrimination. He assessed that the role of religion is very strategic in strengthening unity and strengthening the foundation of national development at the regional level.
With this harmonization activity, FKUB Mimika hopes to continue to be the vanguard in building Mimika as a harmonious, peaceful, and harmonious city, in the midst of various cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
