Ilaga, Papua – A warm and enthusiastic atmosphere surrounded a school in Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Papua, on Monday (April 28, 2025), as several members of the Cartenz Peace Task Force-2025 carried out a dialogical patrol. This activity marked a tangible example of the humanistic approach now central to security strategies in Papua, particularly in conflict-prone areas.
This patrol was more than just a routine security measure. The officers arrived unarmed, instead carrying friendly smiles and positive messages for the schoolchildren engaged in their learning activities. Through this approach, the Cartenz Peace Task Force aims to demonstrate that the presence of security forces in communities does not always equate to violence or military operations, but can also bring hope and a sense of security.
Head of Cartenz Peace Task Force-2025, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., revealed that this initiative is part of a non-repressive approach now emphasized to maintain stability in Papua. He stressed that the direct involvement of security forces in social activities is a strategic step to defuse potential conflicts and build harmonious relationships between the authorities and the community.
“We want to build Papua with an approach that comes from the heart. Children are the future generation, and they must grow in a safe and supportive environment. Our presence at schools symbolizes that the state cares about their future,” explained Brig. Gen. Faizal.
Furthermore, he emphasized that ensuring safety in the community cannot rely solely on the power of weapons or military operations. A psychological and social approach that directly touches the lives of the people, particularly in the education sector, is essential for long-term development in Papua.
Deputy Head of Operations, Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., added that this humanistic approach has proven effective in easing tensions that have often arisen between the community and security forces.
“By entering social spaces like schools, we can build trust. The community no longer sees us as a threat but as partners who help protect and safeguard them,” he said.
From a public relations perspective, Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Task Force-2025, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the people of Puncak Regency to maintain strong synergy with security forces in order to create a conducive environment and support equitable development.
“We continue to encourage the community to remain unprovoked by negative issues. Let’s work together to maintain order and security, because only through stability can we achieve sustainable development,” he stated.
Through this initiative, the Cartenz Peace Task Force reaffirms its commitment not only to be a protector and law enforcer but also a partner to the community, caring for the education and well-being of the people of Papua. In the peaceful and united atmosphere fostered by this approach, a new path opens up for hope: a safer, smarter, and more developed Papua.
