Jayapura – Propaganda issues raised by the organization claiming to represent the West Papua Federal Republic (NRFPB) are considered misleading. This was stated by Papuan activist Marinus Yaung in Jayapura on Monday (April 21, 2025).
Marinus believes that the issues raised by the group are merely divisive. “It must be known and understood that Papua is part of the NKRI, and that’s a done deal,” he emphasized.
Marinus also urged the police to take firm action regarding the issues spread by the NRFPB. “The actions taken are clearly threatening national sovereignty, and there should be consequences for those individuals. Don’t let it slide,” Marinus stressed.
He also emphasized that the group’s actions are only aimed at dividing the unity in Papua. “Stop bringing up the name of Papuan independence. Papua has been free from all forms of colonization. What I want to emphasize now is that Papua is Indonesia,” he said firmly.
Marinus also asked all groups or organizations not to use the name of Papua or Papuan people for personal gain. “Papuan people are smart and know the history, so there’s no need to shout about independence. Papua has become Indonesia’s golden child, evident from the many developments and plans for welfare in Papua,” he explained.
Marinus reiterated that law enforcement agencies should not remain silent when there are groups trying to undermine sovereignty and security in Papua.
