Papua — As the Easter celebration approaches, a moment of deep significance for Christians, Papua community leader and Secretary of the Mimika Regency Student Council Communication Forum (FKMD), Abd. Rachman Nurcholis—widely known as Arnold Ronsumbre—issued a call for unity and peace among all Papuans on Saturday (May 19). He urged the public to help maintain a safe and peaceful environment during the Easter festivities.
“Therefore, I call upon all the people of Papua—especially as we enter this Easter season—to unite, stand together, and help create a peaceful and secure atmosphere in our beloved land of Papua. This is a meaningful time to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, not only in Papua but across Indonesia, as we commemorate Easter,” said Abd. Rachman Nurcholis.
He also extended his appreciation and gratitude to the security forces, particularly those involved in Operation Peace Cartenz, for their continued commitment to maintaining stability in the region.
“Personally, I would like to thank Operation Peace Cartenz. May we all continue to protect and nurture Papua as a land of peace and blessing,” he added.
Arnold’s statement is seen as a moral appeal to all layers of society to uphold unity and resist provocation and violence. Easter, as a symbol of victory and hope, is expected to serve as a momentum for Papua to continue moving toward a future marked by peace, safety, and prosperity.
