Dekai, Yahukimo – The Regional General Hospital (RSUD) of Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, officially handed over the bodies of three victims of violence by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) to their respective families on Tuesday (April 15, 2025). The handover took place after the identification process by the National Police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team was declared complete and valid.
The Director of RSUD Dekai, Dr. Glenn M. Nurtanyo, M.Kes., Sp.PK, confirmed that the three bodies had undergone DVI examinations and had been successfully identified.
The details of the identified victims are as follows:
Sahar – from Pasare Apua Village, Bombana Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Incident Location: Area 33 gold panning site, Yahukimo)
Saharudin – from Toddolimae Village, Tompobulu District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi (Incident Location: Kepala Air Mumok area)
Haidil Isdar – from Boddie Sub-district, Mandelle District, Pangkajene Islands Regency, South Sulawesi (Incident Location: Tanjung Pamali)
“After going through the DVI process and being positively identified, we officially handed over the bodies to their families,” said Dr. Glenn.
However, he emphasized that the burial process would take place directly in the Dekai area of Yahukimo Regency. This decision was made due to the advanced decomposition of the bodies, which made it impossible to transport them to their respective hometowns.
“The current condition of the bodies shows significant decomposition, making it medically unsafe to move or fly them out of Dekai. In such cases, the bodies can become infectious and pose a risk of spreading disease,” he explained.
Dr. Glenn also dismissed claims that the burial in Dekai was due to financial constraints. He clarified that the decision was solely based on medical reasons to prevent potential public health risks.
“I want to make it clear that this has nothing to do with costs or any similar factors. This decision was purely based on medical considerations to prevent the spread of infection,” he stressed.
The three bodies were handed over to family representatives along with official documents, including death certificates and handover reports. The burials were scheduled to take place on the same day.
“Today we will hand over the death certificates and the official handover reports to each family. This includes Haidil Isdar’s family, so the burial can be carried out today as well,” he concluded.
