“GPDP Launches Sunday School Curriculum, Encourages Innovation in Teaching

Jayapura – The Pentecostal Church in Papua (GPDP) through the Department of Sunday School Fellowship (Persemi) officially held a National Training of Trainers (TOT) for Sunday School Teachers and launched the Sunday School Curriculum on March 31 – April 2, 2025, at the Numbay Hotel, Jayapura.

The Chairman of the GPDP Synod, Rev. Dr. Robert Marini, M.Th., attended the event. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of this training in improving the quality of Sunday School teachers so that they can become tutors in various service areas.

“We hope this training will equip participants with competent skills, so they can train Sunday School teachers in their respective areas,” he said.

The Head of the Persemi Department of GPDP, Rev. Fince Mungu, S.Pd., added that this training was designed to improve teaching skills, creativity, and innovation, as well as strengthen spiritual guidance through the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

“We hope this TOT will have a positive impact on all Sunday School teachers in the GPDP service area, so they can more effectively share knowledge and build the faith of children in the GPDP congregation,” she said.

In addition, GPDP also launched the Sunday School Curriculum, which was specifically designed to support teaching in the GPDP environment. This curriculum is expected to become a guide in building and developing Sunday School services in a more systematic way.

The GPDP 2025 National TOT for Sunday School Teachers carried the theme “Be Filled and Be Impactful” with the subtheme: “Through the Training of Trainer (ToT) for Sunday School Teachers of the GPDP Synod Persemi Department, creating skilled, creative, and innovative Sunday School teacher trainers under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.”

This activity aims to improve the quality and competence of Sunday School teachers to be more effective in educating children in the GPDP environment.

The Chairman of the Committee, Sriwirdasih Nuburi, S.Sos., expressed her gratitude for the successful implementation of this activity.

“All praise, gratitude, worship, and honor are only for Jesus Christ, who has entrusted us with this service. Through His love and guidance, we were able to prepare the entire series of activities well,” she said.

This event was attended by participants from various regions and invited guests who also provided support for the development of Sunday School education in the GPDP Synod environment.”
