Jayapura – PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) continues to show its commitment in presenting “green electricity” in the Underdeveloped, Advanced, and Outermost (3T) areas in Papua. This step is not only a technical innovation, but also a fair development strategy to support economic growth and social welfare of local communities.
Electricity is a basic need that plays an important role in various aspects of life, ranging from the operation of household appliances, industrial activities, transportation, communication, to the health and education system. The availability of stable electricity is the main factor in encouraging the development of an area, including in the 3T Papua region.
Academician of Cenderawasih University (Uncen), Kurniawan Patma, assessed that PLN’s efforts in providing electricity access in the 3T area is a strategic leap that can accelerate fair economic development in Papua.
“Electricity access is the main prerequisite to increase community productivity, open up new business opportunities, strengthen education and health services, and support overall local economic growth,” said Kurniawan.
Meanwhile, Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, emphasized that the development of electricity infrastructure is one of the priority programs in Papua Province. According to him, with the presence of electricity, Papuan people increasingly have hope for a better life.
“When we turn on the electricity in the 3T region, we are also lighting the fire of hope for a more independent, advanced, and prosperous Papua,” said Ramses Limbong.
PLN’s efforts in presenting green electricity are not only aimed at increasing the electrification ratio in Papua, but also as part of the company’s commitment in supporting the energy transition to more sustainable resources. With the presence of electricity in the 3T region, it is hoped that it can bring significant changes to people’s lives, open up business opportunities, and accelerate the equal distribution of development in Papua.
