Biak Numfor – The Regional Government of Biak Numfor Regency is committed to increasing access to education for underprivileged Papuan children by building a Public School in the East Biak area. This school will be located on an area of 10 hectares and be part of a national program initiated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to provide free and quality education for the Papuan people.
The Regent of Biak Numfor Regency, Markus Octovianus Mansnembra, SH, MM, together with the Chairman of the Biak Numfor Regency House of Representatives, Daniel Rumanasem, Deputy Regent Jimmy Carter Rumbarar Kapissa, and a number of other related officials, conducted a direct review of the school’s construction site. This visit aims to ensure the readiness of the land and various other technical aspects so that the development can begin soon this year.
In his statement, Regent Markus emphasized that the presence of this People’s School is a big step in improving the level of education in Biak Numfor, especially for children from underpriviled families.
“We want to ensure that every Papuan child has the same opportunity to get a quality education. This People’s School is a real manifestation of the government’s concern for the future of the young generation in Biak Numfor,” said Regent Markus.
In addition, the Regent also asked that this program continue to be socialized to the wider community so that parents who have school-age children can take advantage of this opportunity. He hopes that this school will not only be a place to gain knowledge, but also as a place for character formation and skill improvement for Papuan children.
The local government will continue to coordinate with various parties to ensure that the construction of this Public School runs as planned and can be immediately used by the community. The attendance of this school is expected to be a solution for many children in Biak who have been struggling to gain access to decent education.
With the existence of this People’s School, Biak Numfor Regency emphasizes its commitment in supporting the national agenda to create a younger generation of Papuans who are more intelligent, competitive, and ready to face challenges in the future.
