Merauke Police Secure 10,000-Liter Fuel Tanker and Arrest Four Suspects

Jayapura – The Special Criminal Investigation Unit (Ditreskrimsus) of the Papua Regional Police has secured a 10,000-liter fuel tanker and a metallic blue Panther vehicle in Merauke, South Papua, on Saturday (March 22, 2025).

According to a press release from the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Papua Regional Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner I Gusti Era Adinata, delivered through Sub-Directorate IV Tipiter Chief Commissioner Agus Ferinando Pombos, the case involved the misuse of subsidized Bio Solar fuel. The operation took place near the Blorep housing complex in Kamundu, Merauke, on March 17, 2025, at approximately 3:20 PM WIT.

“We have detained four suspects: Ba, a driver for PT. Tiga Putra Bersatu; MB, another driver from the same company; MA, a private employee; and SL, a supervisor at SPBU Kompak CV Rezeki Jaya,” the press release stated.

The suspects allegedly misused approximately 930 liters of Bio Solar B40 fuel belonging to SPBU Kompak CV Rezeki Jaya. The fuel was extracted during a scheduled refueling operation based on a delivery order (DO) issued by PT. Pertamina’s depot, numbered 8120750732, dated March 17, 2025, for a total of 10,000 liters.

However, Ba and MB did not transfer the entire fuel amount into the station’s storage tank. Instead, around 610 liters remained in the second (rear) compartment of their 10-wheeler HINO FL8JN2A PGJ transport truck, marked with PT. Tiga Putra Bersatu’s branding.

Additionally, SL, the station supervisor, allegedly siphoned another 315 liters from the station’s dispenser into nine 35-liter jerry cans. These jerry cans were then loaded onto the transport vehicle to be taken and sold in Merauke.

“During transit, Ba and MB contacted MA to negotiate the sale of the Bio Solar fuel at Rp 11,000 per liter. MA agreed, and the transaction took place on Blorep Street, Merauke District, South Papua Province,” the statement added.

The suspects will be charged under Article 55 of Law No. 22 of 2001 on Oil and Gas, as amended by Article 40, Clause 9 of Law No. 6 of 2023 concerning Government Regulation in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation, in conjunction with Article 55, Paragraph 1, Clause 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).
