Puncak Jaya – The Puncak Jaya Resort Police (Polres) alongside the Peace Operation Cartenz 2025 Task Force swiftly responded to the fire incident involving two houses in Pruleme Village, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency, in the early hours of Friday, March 14.
The incident was first reported at approximately 12:30 AM local time. The team immediately coordinated with the Puncak Jaya Police Standby Unit and Brimob Yon C to reach the scene. Upon arrival at the scene, officers conducted a sweep but did not find any residents or eyewitnesses in the vicinity.
“Personnel quickly moved to secure the area and ensure there were no casualties. However, about 20 minutes after the initial incident, another house, located 38 meters from the initial site, caught fire,” said Deputy Operations Chief Damai Cartenz 2025 Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum.
Commissioner Adarma added that the identities of the homeowners are still under investigation. Initial suspicions suggest deliberate intent, considering the houses were unoccupied and the electricity in the complex was turned off.
“It is not out of the question that this fire was intentionally set to provoke public security and order disturbances (Kamtibmas) in Puncak Jaya. The incident site is a known base for certain groups,” he added.
The police continue to heighten surveillance and urge the public to remain vigilant against potential security threats. “We remind all personnel on duty in the field to stay alert, especially when responding to nighttime incidents, to anticipate all possibilities,” emphasized Commissioner Adarma.
Currently, a combined team is still conducting further investigations into the motives and perpetrators behind this fire incident. The public is urged to immediately report any information to the authorities to support law enforcement efforts in the area.
