“Lenis Kogoya: MBG Program for Welfare, Not Genocide

Wamena, March 12, 2025 – The controversy surrounding the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program in Papua has resurfaced after the OPM spokesperson, Sebby Sambom, and OPM Commander, Undius Kogoya, accused the program of being a government attempt to poison the Papuan generation. But is this accusation true?

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the MBG program uses national nutrition standards and has undergone clinical trials before distribution. “There are no toxic substances in this food. Instead, it aims to address malnutrition, which has long been a serious problem in Papua,” said Lenis Kogoya, a source from the Ministry of Health.

Lenis Kogoya strongly reacted to the accusation. “Don’t spread hoaxes that scare people. This program is for the good of the Papuan people,” he emphasized. He also threatened to arrest anyone who continues to spread misinformation about MBG.

Meanwhile, several school principals in Intan Jaya who were interviewed expressed concern about the OPM’s threats. “We want to help children get good nutrition, but we’re also afraid of violence,” said a teacher who requested anonymity.

The government has assured that it will guarantee security for schools in Papua to ensure the MBG program can run smoothly without obstacles.”
