Fire in Puncak Jaya Considered Suspected Arson

Puncak Jaya – Two houses in Pruleme Village, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency, caught fire early Friday morning, March 14, drawing public attention and concern from law enforcement. The first fire occurred around 00:30 WIT, followed shortly by flames engulfing another house.

The prompt presence of teams from the Puncak Jaya Resort Police and Brimob Yon C to handle the fire demonstrated a swift response from the authorities. However, Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga, the Deputy Operations Chief of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, stated that the identity of the owners of the burned houses is still under investigation. There are suspicions that the fire was intentionally set, considering the fact that the houses were unoccupied and there was no electricity supply.

This situation raises concerns about security conditions in Puncak Jaya, given that the incident location is a known base for certain groups. The police have urged the community to remain vigilant and actively report any information regarding potential security disturbances to the authorities. The incident also highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in maintaining order in high-risk areas.
