Cartenz-2025 Peace Task Force Foils Arms Smuggling for KKB in Puncak Jaya

Jayapura, March 8, 2025 – A combined team of the Cartenz-2025 Peace Operations Task Force and the Papua Police successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle firearms and ammunition believed to be intended for the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Puncak Jaya, led by Lerimayu Telengen.

This operation was the result of surveillance conducted from March 1 to 7, 2025, which uncovered plans to transport weapons from Jayapura to Puncak Jaya. According to intelligence reports, the weapons were to be handed over by the primary suspect, Yuni Enumbi (29 years old), who was ultimately apprehended during this operation.

On March 6, 2025, the Cartenz-2025 Peace Operations Task Force captured Yuni Enumbi at KM 76, Keerom District. Alongside Yuni, two others were also taken into custody: Yudhi Kalalo (a delivery driver) and Matius Payokwa (a delivery helper).

Evidence Secured
Various pieces of evidence were seized during this operation, including:

Weapons and Ammunition:

2 long-barreled firearms (not yet assembled)
4 G2 Pindad pistols
632 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition
250 rounds of 9 mm ammunition
1 air rifle (not yet assembled)
1 laser sighting package + mounting
1 telescope + suppressor
1 brown wooden stock
1 barrel and cylinder for the air rifle
Other Items:

1 air compressor labeled United Waran Biru (the storage for weapons)
1 Vivo Y19S cellphone
1 pump and 1 air bag
1 T-key and 1 portable grinder package
Several bags, including an air rifle bag and a sling bag containing personal identification and ATM cards
Cash:

IDR 369,600,000 (Three Hundred Sixty-Nine Million Six Hundred Thousand Rupiah)
Suspect Confessions and Further Investigation
During interrogation, Yuni Enumbi admitted that the firearms were purchased for IDR 1.3 billion from outside Papua and were intended for delivery to the KKB in Puncak Jaya. Meanwhile, the driver and helper detained claimed they were unaware of the contents of their cargo.

The Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz-2025 Operations Task Force, Kombes Pol. Yusuf Sutejo, emphasized that this operation is still under further investigation.

“This success is not the end; it marks the beginning of a more in-depth inquiry. We will continue to trace the origin of these weapons and identify all those involved,” said Kombes Yusuf.

The Chief of the Cartenz-2025 Operations, Brig. Gen. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, also praised the team’s hard work in thwarting the smuggling operation.

“Thank God, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the team, we have successfully halted the smuggling of various types of weapons and ammunition that were intended to be supplied to the KKB in Puncak Jaya,” he expressed.

With the success of this operation, it is hoped that the armed group’s efforts to procure illegal weapons can be curtailed, thereby enhancing security stability in Papua.
