Yalimo-Elelim – Satgas Ops Damai Cartenz 2025 and the Yalimo Police held a reconstruction of Nikson Matuan’s involvement in the shooting of the late Brigpol Iqbal Anwar Arif at Hobakma Village, Elelim District, Yalimo Regency, Papua Highlands, on Tuesday (11/2/2025).
The Head of Ops Damai Cartenz-2025, Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Ops Damai Cartenz 2025, Commissioner Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., said that the reconstruction, which started at 07.30 WIT, depicted the shooting incident that occurred on Friday, January 17, 2025, around 15.00 WIT on the Trans Wamena-Jayapura Road. Brigpol Iqbal was the victim of a shooting carried out by the KKB Aske Mabel gang.
The reconstruction included 19 scenes, starting from the perpetrator walking towards the hut to the moment Aske Mabel fired a shot at the victim. Each scene was reenacted, including the positions of the perpetrator, victim, and witnesses, as well as the evidence found at the crime scene.
Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani explained that the reconstruction aimed to obtain a clear picture of the shooting incident. “This reconstruction is very important to uncover the incident and determine the role of each perpetrator,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations Task Force Ops Damai Cartenz 2025, Commissioner Pol. Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public to remain calm and assist security forces in maintaining public security and order (Kamtibmas).
“We ask the public not to be provoked and to report any suspicious information,” he said.
The reconstruction is expected to shed light on the shooting case of Brigpol Iqbal and bring the perpetrators to court.
