Satgas Ops Damai Cartenz-2025 Arrests KKB Fugitive in Sentani

Jayapura, Papua- The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2025 successfully apprehended a fugitive from the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Sentani, Jayapura, on Friday, January 31, 2025. 

The captured fugitive was Yantis Murib, also known as Nosin Murib, a member of the armed group led by Jeki Murib, alias Papuanus, alias Kasuari. 

The Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., confirmed that Yantis Murib had long been on the authorities’ wanted list due to his involvement in a series of violent acts in Papua. 

“The suspect is from Pinggil/Eronggobak Village, Puncak Regency, and has a significant criminal record,” stated Brigadier General Faizal. 

During the arrest operation, authorities also confiscated several pieces of evidence in Yantis Murib’s possession, including an identity card, wallet, plane ticket, bead necklace, noken (traditional Papuan woven bag), and cash. 

Further investigation revealed that Yantis Murib was involved in a shooting attack on a civilian in Ilaga in 2024, which resulted in a victim named Suherman sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. 

“He acted as the motorcycle driver while carrying a revolver during the attack,” explained Brigadier General Faizal. 

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force’s Public Relations Division, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the community to maintain a peaceful situation in Papua and promptly report any security threats to the authorities. 

“We all have a responsibility to ensure Papua remains safe and peaceful. Those who are arrested will be held accountable under the law,” he emphasized.
