Sentani – Daniel Toto, a Traditional Leader of the Tabi Indigenous People in Papua, urged residents in the Papua Province to avoid using social media in ways that could provoke social conflict, such as spreading hate speech or hoaxes.
Toto encouraged the community to support the TNI-Polri in maintaining security and order in the region.
He also called on the people in the nine districts/cities of Papua to continue upholding unity and mutual respect despite differences, especially in the context of the ongoing local elections.
“Social media should be used wisely, as a tool to strengthen relationships and spread positive messages that support security and peace in Papua,” said Toto in Sentani on Saturday.
He emphasized that, despite political differences, maintaining order and peace should always be a priority. “We invite community leaders to be at the forefront in preserving peace during the election process,” he added.
“If the security situation is stable, all activities will proceed smoothly. Therefore, let us prioritize unity and use social media wisely,” he concluded.
