ELELIM-YALIMO – Polri-TNI who are members of the Cartenz-2025 Peaceful Operations Task Force together with the Yalimo Police held a large-scale patrol in the Elelim District, Hobakma Village, Yalimo Regency, Friday (10/01/2025).
This patrol was led directly by the Yalimo Police Chief, Commissioner Joni Samonsabra, S.H., M.H., in response to the shooting incident that claimed the lives of two civilians the previous day.
This large patrol was carried out to maintain security stability and prevent similar actions from occurring.
The patrol involved a combined force from the Polri-TNI who are members of the Cartenz-2025 Peaceful Operations Law Enforcement Task Force.
In addition to patrols, officers also pursued the perpetrators of the shooting, and tightened supervision by checking vehicles entering and leaving the Yalimo Regency area.
“We are not only patrolling, but also pursuing the perpetrators of the shooting of civilians the previous day. We are also increasing security to prevent the potential for similar incidents,” said the Yalimo Police Chief, Commissioner Joni Samonsabra.
He appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report to the Yalimo Police if they know the whereabouts of the perpetrators. “We will take firm action against the perpetrators. Community cooperation is very important in maintaining the security of this area,” he added.
Furthermore, the Police Chief emphasized that the Police-TNI, together with the Cartenz-2025 Peace Task Force, will continue to work together with the community to take firm action against groups that often carry out acts of violence in the Yalimo area.
“We strongly condemn the frequent shootings and will collaborate with all elements to restore peace in Yalimo,” he said.
This patrol is expected to create a sense of security among the community and ensure security stability in Yalimo Regency.
