Jayawijaya – Reverend Esmon Walilo, Chairman of the Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB) of Jayawijaya Regency, delivered an important message to the community, calling for the preservation of peace, security, and interfaith unity as Papua enters 2025. This appeal was made during an interfaith meeting held in Wamena on Sunday, January (5/1).
In his address, Reverend Walilo emphasized the need for collaboration among all community elements to maintain harmony amid diversity.
“Let us work together to uphold peace and harmony in Jayawijaya. Do not let differences divide us; instead, let our diversity become our strength. Avoid all forms of violence and conflict, as peace is the only way to build a better future for our children,” he said.
Reverend Walilo also urged religious leaders, traditional figures, and youth to set an example in fostering unity and educating the public about the importance of security. He reminded attendees that conflict only results in losses, both socially and economically, for everyone.
“As people of faith, we have a responsibility to create a safe and peaceful environment. Let us ensure that Jayawijaya remains a harmonious place, enabling development to progress smoothly and the community to live comfortably,” he added.
The event was attended by interfaith and traditional leaders, who pledged their commitment to support government and law enforcement efforts in maintaining stability in the region.
This call for unity was met with a positive response from various sectors, with hopes that 2025 would be a year to strengthen solidarity and harmony in Jayawijaya Regency.
