ILAGA – Reverend Lea P. Rumayau, S.Th., the leader of the Eklesia Ilaga congregation in Puncak, has urged both regional election candidates and their supporters to respect the ongoing vote-counting process.
“We know the vote-counting process in Puncak is still underway, so let us respect the procedures,” she said.
Pastor Lea emphasized that any dissatisfaction with the process should be addressed through the appropriate channels provided by the Election Commission (KPU).
“If you disagree with the results, there is a proper process to follow, not by instigating clashes among supporters,” she stated firmly.
She also called on the public to avoid being provoked into actions that could lead to clashes and jeopardize security in the region.
“Let other regions’ experiences of election-related conflicts and casualties be enough. Not Ilaga. Let us work together with law enforcement to keep our beloved town safe,” she appealed.
In her closing remarks, Pastor Lea urged all parties, including those with differing ideologies, to exercise self-restraint and refrain from inciting unrest. She reminded everyone of the upcoming celebration of the birth of Christ on December 25.
“Let this December be a month of joy. Rejoice for the glory of Jesus Christ,” she concluded. (*)
