Jayapura – In the aftermath of the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada), Puncak Jaya Police has initiated a series of security patrols aimed at maintaining peace and public order, ensuring the safety of the community, on Monday (December 16, 2024).
The patrol, led by Puncak Jaya Police Operations Chief, Compol A. Hari Junianto, S.Kom., and Head of Samapta Police Unit, Ipda Kasroni Manurung, S.H., also involved a joint force of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) and the Indonesian National Military (TNI).
Puncak Jaya Police Chief, AKBP Kuswara, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that the patrols were essential to ensure the situation remained secure and under control after the elections.
“We deployed joint personnel from the TNI and POLRI to patrol strategic areas such as public spaces, residential neighborhoods, offices, and crowded places, to ensure the safety and security of the community,” he said.
The Police Chief also stressed the importance of maintaining a persuasive approach to engage with the public, aiming to prevent any potential conflicts and foster good communication between authorities and citizens.
“This initiative has been well received by the local community, with many residents expressing their sense of security with the active presence of law enforcement maintaining stability post-election,” the Police Chief added.
Additionally, the patrol is also part of efforts to anticipate potential disruptions in public security during the ongoing stages of the 2024 Pilkada, particularly in relation to the ongoing District-level Plenary Meeting being held in Nabire, Papua Tengah Province.
“All personnel on duty, including those participating in patrols and other security activities, are urged to remain vigilant,” the Police Chief concluded.
