Mimika – Amungme intellectual figure, Carel Kum asked the people of Mimika Regency not to be provoked by the actions of irresponsible individuals after the determination of the 2024 Mimika Regional Election Winner.
According to him, the Mimika Regency Pilkada has been completed and went well and peacefully so it should not be marred by actions that could divide society.
It was emphasized that if there are parties who object to the results of the Mimika Pilkada, please take the correct route according to the rules.
“If you are not satisfied with the results of the Mimika Regional Election, please sue, don’t invite or provoke the public to violate the law. “I emphasize that the Amungme tribe does not recognize or tolerate racism,” he stressed.
“As a generation of the Amungme tribe, I see that the democratic process in Mimika has been implemented well and the democratic process has been completed when the chairman and members of the Mimika Regency KPU determine the votes obtained by the regent candidates,” he said when met by dawnpapua.com, Thursday (12/12).
The most important thing that must be understood by all elements of the nation’s children and especially the candidates is that in the Mimika Regional Election process there will be no social friction.
“As an Amungme child, I feel proud of the progress of democratic values and the implementation of a good, free and secret democratic party. “Therefore, democratic values from a practical political perspective are growing well in Timika and must be maintained,” he said
He hopes that the candidates, local politicians, community leaders and intellectual figures will not incite the community, let alone want to cause trouble in Timika.
“The recapitulation and vote determination process has been carried out by the Mimika Regency KPU openly and attended by all witnesses and witnessed by the entire community. “De jure and de facto, what was held at the plenary and determined by the Mimika Regency KPU is legal, this is a political fact,” he said.
He said that every political fight will have political consequences and must be acknowledged by all parties.
“Satisfied and dissatisfied, or there are other problems, that’s normal. If a party feels disadvantaged and is dissatisfied, then the legal mechanism is clear. So please make a lawsuit and it will be tested at the Constitutional Court, but don’t provoke the public. We need to feel safe and comfortable in Timika. What the community gives, that is the result and the facts have been determined by the Mimika Regency KPU. “If you feel dissatisfied, feel cheated, please follow the path but don’t lead to opinions that create divisions between communities,” he stressed.
According to him, the Mimika Regency KPU has acted in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
He also believes that the Mimika Regency KPU cannot possibly side with something that is wrong and against the law.
“I remind all candidates who are applying for legal rights to the Constitutional Court not to provoke our younger students and university students who are in their study cities. “Don’t take advantage of the youth of our generation to carry out demonstrations just for the benefit of irresponsible individuals, that’s wrong,” he explained.
Carel Kum once again emphasized that the Land of Amungsa-Bumi Kamoro does not recognize racism.
“As an Amungme child, I invite the people of Timika, especially the Amungme and Kamoro people, to remain calm because all the candidates who have competed are the best sons of Mimika. Therefore, let’s speak our words well, show that Amungme and Kamoro culture does not recognize the words racism, tribalism, religion and race. “The word racism is not the culture of the Amungme, Kamoro and Papuan people as well as the Indonesian people who live in Timika,” he concluded.
