In his statement in Jayapura on Friday, December 6, 2024, the Chief of the Wikaya Tribe, Arso-Keerom, Papua, assessed that the success of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Task Force was not only seen from the efforts to suppress violent actions by the KKB, but also in important missions such as the release of the Susi Air pilot in Nduga Regency.
“We give this appreciation to the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force. The success of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Task Force is an honor for us as figures in Papua,” he said.
Herman Yoku also called for a message of Peace to active KKB members, to stop acts of violence, abandon weapons, and join in building a progressive and prosperous Papua.
“I want to remind the KKB, you are Indonesian citizens who have Indonesian ID cards. The world does not recognize your struggle because you are still Indonesian citizens. Let’s abandon violence and build Papua together,” he said.
Herman Yoku continued, We used to fight with the principle of respecting civilians. We never robbed, seized, let alone killed civilians. However, now the KKB has crossed those boundaries, even violating God’s law.
In a separate place, the Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation, Senior Commissioner of Police. Dr. Bayu Suseno, said that the success of maintaining security in Papua was the result of synergy between security forces and the community.
“Papua peace is our shared hope. The support of the community, especially traditional leaders, is very helpful in creating a conducive situation,” explained Senior Commissioner of Police. Dr. Bayu.
He added, with close collaboration between the community and security forces, Papua will continue to be a safe and peaceful region.
