Jayapura– The Chairman of the Papua Province Panca Marga Youth Regional Leadership Council (Deparda) who also serves as the Chairman of the Jayapura City Red and White Brigade, Niko Mauri, gave great appreciation to the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force for its success in maintaining security in the Papua region over the past year, especially in areas prone to conflict due to criminal acts carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
In his statement in Jayapura on Thursday (5/12/2024), Niko Mauri expressed his pride in the dedication and responsibility shown by the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force from January to December 2024. According to him, the law enforcement efforts carried out by the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force have provided a sense of security to the community, especially in areas that have been the center of the KKB conflict.
As a Papuan figure, Niko also strongly condemned the acts of violence carried out by the KKB, including the shooting of civilians in Puncak Regency and the sadistic murder of a high school student in Yahukimo Regency.
“As a Papuan figure, I strongly condemn the shooting of civilians in Puncak Regency and the sadistic murder of high school students in Yahukimo Regency. I appeal for criminal acts like this to be stopped immediately,” said Niko.
He also emphasized the importance of creating a peaceful atmosphere, especially in December, when the Christian Papuan community is preparing to celebrate two big moments, namely Christmas and New Year. Niko hopes that all forms of violence can be stopped so that the community can celebrate the celebrations safely and peacefully.
As a native son of Papua from the Sairei Tribe, Niko Mauri again expressed his appreciation for the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations Task Force which he considered successful in enforcing the law in the Papua region. He closed his statement with an expression of emotion and pride for the dedication of the Caretnz-2024 Peaceful Operations Task Force.
“I am proud and appreciate the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force which for one year, from January to December 2024, has continued to carry out its duties with full responsibility to provide peace and comfort for the people of Papua,” he said.
With this success, Niko hopes that peace in Papua can continue to be maintained, so that people can live in peace without being haunted by acts of violence from the KKB group.
In a separate place, the Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Public Relations Task Force, Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Bayu Suseno, also provided his views regarding the success of maintaining security stability in Papua. According to him, peace in Papua cannot be separated from the good synergy between the security forces and the community.
“Peace in Papua is our common hope. For that, the role of the community and figures in Papua is very important in helping the security forces create a peaceful Papua,” said Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Bayu Suseno.
Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Bayu Suseno, reiterated that the success in creating a conducive situation in Papua is not only the result of the work of the security forces, but also because of the active support of the community who also maintain security and order in their environment.
With close cooperation between the community, traditional leaders, and security forces, Senior Commissioner Bayu is optimistic that Papua will continue to be a safe and peaceful region.
