Joint Team of Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations Task Force, Papua Police Mobile Brigade and Yahukimo Police Chase KKB Perpetrators of Civilian Murder in Yahukimo

Jayapura– The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) is back in action in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains. In the incident that occurred on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, one civilian died, while two others were rescued by joint officers on Jalan Seredala, Kilo 2, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency.

Head of Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations, Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, when confirmed, revealed that the joint team from Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operations Task Force, Papua Police Mobile Brigade, and Yahukimo Police immediately responded to public reports regarding the pursuit of civilians by KKB at the location.

“Our team went to the scene and managed to rescue two civilians. However, during the search, one victim was found dead,” said Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal.

Head of Public Relations Task Force for Peaceful Operation Cartenz-2024, Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Bayu Suseno, explained that the three civilians being chased by the KKB were residents from Toraja, namely Rein Kaban Saleda, Maikel Karangan, and Berti Liling.

“The victim who died was Berti Liling, a 19-year-old student who was found lying under a tree. Her body has been evacuated to Dekai Regional Hospital for further action,” explained Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Bayu.

The two surviving civilians are now at the Task Force Post for Peaceful Operation Cartenz-2024 for further examination, in identifying the perpetrators of the KKB.

Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Bayu also appealed to the people of Yahukimo to remain calm and entrust security handling to the authorities in order to maintain a conducive situation in Yahukimo Regency.
