Jayapura – Puncak Papua Regional Police are currently handling the shooting case of a retired TNI AD officer named La Ode (55) by an Unknown Person (OTK) at the Kago Market Complex, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Monday (02/12/2024) at around 12:00 19.15 WIB.
Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Commissioner Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom., confirmed the incident when confirmed.
The Head of Public Relations said the incident began when the victim was about to perform evening prayers at the Al Ikhlas Ilaga Mosque, precisely at the intersection of the alley leading to Kago market.
“The victim saw 3 OTK people with the characteristics of being OAPs in front of the workshop which was approximately 20 meters from the victim,” said the Head of Public Relations.
Then the victim continued his journey towards the Al Ikhlas Ilaga Mosque, not long after, he heard 3 long-barreled gunshots from the direction of the workshop.
“The victim realized that he had been shot in the back of the left shoulder, penetrating the victim’s left front shoulder,” he said.
“Currently the victim has been evacuated to Ilaga Hospital, Puncak Regency to receive further medical treatment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Puncak Police Chief, Commissioner I Nyoman Punia, said that the Puncak Police Criminal Investigation Unit is currently pursuing the perpetrators and investigating the motives of what the perpetrators did.
“Currently, joint TNI-Polri officers are carrying out patrols to anticipate follow-up actions,” concluded the Police Chief.
