Ilaga, Papua – As the 2024 Regional Elections (Pilkada Serentak) approach, the Damai Cartenz 2024 Assistance Team has visited Puncak Regency to assess security preparations. The visit, held on Monday, November 18, 2024, aimed to ensure effective coordination between the Puncak Police and the ODC personnel, ensuring smooth and secure election processes scheduled for November 27, 2024.
The Assistance Team, led by Kaminops DC-2024, Kombes Pol Irfa Asrul Hanafi, S.I.K., includes key officials from the Damai Cartenz Task Force, such as Kasatgas Ban DC-2024 AKBP Egia Kusumawiatmajaya, S.I.K., Wakasatgas Tindak DC-2024 Kompol Reynaldo T. Bullo, S.I.K., Wakasatgas Humas DC-2024 Kompol Yusuf Tausiri, S.I.K., as well as several officers and members of ODC-2024.
Brigjen Pol Faizal Ramadhani, Head of Operations for Damai Cartenz-2024, explained that the purpose of this assistance activity was to ensure the readiness of security measures ahead of the Pilkada.
“We want to ensure that every phase of the elections in Puncak proceeds safely, without interference from criminal groups or any other threats. Therefore, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide full support to the Puncak Police in securing areas considered vulnerable,” said Brigjen Pol Faizal Ramadhani.
The assistance team arrived at Aminggaru Airport in Puncak at 07:30 WIT and proceeded directly to the Puncak Police Headquarters to hold a coordination meeting with the regional police team.
The meeting, led by AKP Yulius Harikatang, Chief of Operations at Puncak Police, discussed several important points, including security measures for vulnerable areas and potential disturbances. One issue raised by Ipda Sudomo, the Puncak Sector Commander, was the ongoing projects involving armed criminal groups (KKB), which have not been completed and may pose security risks.
Kombes Pol Irfa Asrul Hanafi emphasized that the assistance activities were in line with directives from the Head of Operations for Damai Cartenz, who also serves as the Deputy Head of the Papua Regional Police.
“While we remain focused on law enforcement against armed criminal groups (KKB) and insurgent groups (KKP), Damai Cartenz 2024 is also committed to supporting the security of the Pilkada, especially in high-risk areas,” added Kombes Irfa Asrul Hanafi.
AKP Yulius Harikatang revealed that the Puncak Police have developed a detailed security plan for the Pilkada, dividing the region into several zones, including Ilaga, Omukia, Gome, Beoga, Sinak, and Doufo as polling station locations. Additional security measures will be concentrated in Omukia, which is deemed particularly vulnerable.
Following the coordination meeting at Puncak Police Headquarters, the assistance team visited the ODC 2024 Belukar Task Force Post in Puncak to meet with personnel. Kombes Irfa Asrul Hanafi reiterated the importance of maintaining alertness and readiness in facing potential security disturbances, as well as closely monitoring the use of equipment and ammunition.
Kombes Pol Dr. Bayu Suseno, Head of the Public Relations Task Force, added that the assistance team also monitored the Gakkum Task Force Post at Ilaga Police Station. The assistance activities in Puncak Regency were completed smoothly, and the team continued its journey to Intan Jaya Regency for further assistance efforts.
“With strong coordination between the Damai Cartenz Task Force and Puncak Police, we hope the security for the Regional Elections in this region will proceed safely and smoothly,” concluded Kombes Bayu.
