Brigpol Victor Merani Maintains Yard Garden, Supports National Food Security in Papua

Jayapura- In supporting the Asta Cita program and the priority of Advanced Indonesia 2045, the National Police through the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operation continues to strive to strengthen food security in Papua. One of the initiatives is through the yard garden owned by Brigpol Victor Merani in Malompo Village, Arso VI, Keerom Regency.

This activity received direct attention from the Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operation, Senior Commissioner of Police. Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H., who led a visit to the garden on Tuesday (12/11/2024). After the visit, Brigpol Victor became more active in maintaining his garden which was planted with corn and long beans.

On Saturday (17/11/2024), Brigpol Victor Merani carried out intensive maintenance to ensure that the plants grew optimally. He sprayed mono potassium phosphate (MKP) fertilizer to support root growth, accelerate flowering, and prevent flower and fruit loss.

“This treatment is important so that the plants produce a quality harvest. In addition, we also clean weeds that can interfere with the growth of the main plants,” said Brigpol Victor, a member of the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operation Public Relations Task Force and also the Papua Police Public Relations Division.

As a native son of Papua from the Yapen Serui Islands Regency, Brigpol Victor has high hopes for his harvest. “We hope that this harvest will not only meet the needs of the family, but can also be enjoyed by the surrounding community,” he added.

Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Operation Public Relations Task Force, Senior Commissioner Pol. Dr. Bayu Suseno, emphasized the importance of the food security program initiated by the Police. He hopes that every member of the Police can be a role model for the surrounding community.

“The food security program is a national program implemented through family yards. The hope is that members of the Police can motivate families and the surrounding community to be independent in meeting food needs,” concluded Senior Commissioner Pol. Dr. Bayu Suseno.

This initiative demonstrates the Polri’s commitment to supporting food independence in Papua, strengthening the role of Polri members as the driving force of community welfare, while supporting the government’s strategic program to realize national food security.
