Jayapura- Papua Police Chief Inspector General Patrige Renwarin said that the National Police Headquarters immediately sent 300 Brimob personnel to help secure the regional elections in the Papua region.
“The 300 Brimob personnel will be under operational control (BKO) of the Papua Regional Police and are scheduled to arrive on November 23. “We will provide training to better understand the characteristics of Papua,” said the Papua Police Chief.
Inspector General Pol Patrige said that the Brimob personnel would later join Papua Police personnel who had previously been assigned to the area.
The Papua Regional Police itself has deployed 10,471 personnel who will be tasked with securing logistics and TPS deliveries.
The Papua Regional Police itself estimates that two provinces are prone to security disturbances, namely Mountain Papua and Central Papua.
This insecurity in the two provinces is not only due to natural conditions, but also to security disturbances carried out by armed criminal groups (KKB).
“A total of 16 districts in the two provinces are in the vulnerable category,” explained the Regional Police Chief.
