Jayapura- Papuan Muslim figure, Thaha Al Hamid invited the Papuan people to support the Papuan Police in creating peace ahead of the simultaneous regional elections.
According to him, the role of the community is very important in ensuring that the democratic party runs peacefully, safely and orderly. Moreover, the voting is only a matter of days away.
“I THaha Al Hamid would like to invite and convey that this November is the month that regional elections will be held. “The most important thing is that we ensure that this political process takes place in a peaceful, safe and orderly atmosphere,” he said.
He said that the people may exercise their political rights freely. However, the people must also support the security forces in creating peace in the land of Papua.
“Let’s provide security support to the Papuan Police together, hand in hand. “We will ensure that the situation leading up to the Pilkada continues to be safe and comfortable until we can exercise our political rights,” said Thaha.
All parties must also welcome the Pilkada happily. Because, later the 2024 regional elections will give birth to Papua’s future leaders.
“This is a very important moment for all of us. We must welcome this moment with joy without having to spread bad thoughts which will later cause people to clash and lead to social conflict. “No one definitely wants that to happen,” he said.
Thaha also asked all parties not to spread rumors and narratives that are provocative and detrimental to many people. Whatever dynamics occur, you should hand it over to the security forces.
“People can exercise their political rights freely, according to their conscience, and no one forbids them. “However, the main thing is that the situation must remain safe and peaceful,” he said.
