JAYAPURA – Youth leader from Biak, Hery Binggoibo, has called upon the public to support the Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua) in maintaining public security and order ahead of the upcoming Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) on November 27, 2024.
Binggoibo expressed his gratitude to the security forces for their efforts to ensure safety in Papua as the election date approaches.
“The police have been working hard to maintain security, so as citizens, let’s join hands to support these efforts,” he said.
He urged all community members to approach information with caution during this election period to avoid falling prey to propaganda or hoaxes.
“It’s a political year, and there are many ways in which security can be destabilized. Be wise when consuming information on social media,” he advised.
The Biak native emphasized that the Pilkada is a democratic celebration meant to be a joyful event, not one marred by violence or division.
“Let’s put an end to election-related casualties. Politics should not divide us; differing political choices are normal. Let’s see this as a chance to choose leaders who will bring progress, not fuel discord,” he explained.
Binggoibo also expressed hope that the Papua Regional Police would take a firm stance against any individuals attempting to disrupt the region’s longstanding peace and unity.
“We hope for strict action against those who seek to create chaos. Papua is a land of peace,” he affirmed.
