The farm is located in Malompo Village, Arso VI, Keerom Regency, Papua. The event was directly led by the Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Operation 2024, Police Commissioner Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H.
Present at the event were Deputy Head of Public Relations for Cartenz Peace Operation 2024, Police Commissioner Yusuf Tauziri, S.I.K., along with personnel from the Subtask Force for Health, including Brigadier Police Heribertus A.B. Tena, and other members of the Public Relations Task Force for the operation in Jayapura, on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
This activity is part of the implementation of the Chief of Police’s directive, outlined in Letter No. B/18415/XI/BIN.2.1/2024/SSDM, dated November 2, 2024, which provides technical guidelines for the Food Security Program.
During the event, Police Commissioner Bayu Suseno explained that the activity was a key part of the Asta Cita program, particularly the Nutrient-Rich Home Garden Program.
“This initiative is the integration of two Asta Cita programs into the Nutrient-Rich Home Garden Program. It is expected that this will strengthen household food security, provide raw materials for free nutritious food programs, and promote the use of productive land. Ultimately, we aim to turn every region into a food hub, contributing to Indonesia’s goal of becoming a global food supplier,” said Commissioner Bayu.
The food security initiative, utilizing gardening techniques, has been running since 2021. Brigadier Viktor Merani, an active Polri officer, has been enthusiastic about participating in the program. His success and dedication have served as a real-life example for the local community, encouraging them to focus on utilizing land in a productive manner.
To motivate the community, Brigadier Viktor shared an inspiring slogan: “If not us, who else? And if not now, when?” This message aims to inspire more people to take concrete steps towards self-reliant food security.
In support of the program’s success, the Head of Public Relations, along with his team, also participated in planting chili seedlings and provided agricultural tools to Brigadier Viktor. This initiative is expected to strengthen agricultural independence and boost productivity in the region.
