Jayapura, November 7, 2024 — Papuan Religious Figure and General Secretary of the Indonesian Christian Tabernacle Church Synod, Rev. Dr. Yones Wenda, expressed his appreciation to the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force for its achievements in uncovering a number of cases involving the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua, including the recent release of the Susi Air pilot.
When met in Jayapura, Rev. Dr. Yones Wenda stated the importance of a sense of security and peace in Papua for the welfare of the local community. According to him, the success of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force has provided new hope for the creation of peace in the land of Papua.
“As religious figures in Papua, we would like to thank the Cartenz-2024 Peace Operation Task Force who have worked hard to bring peace to the land of Papua,” said Rev. Yones Wenda.
Furthermore, he appealed to the Papuan people to actively participate in maintaining security and order ahead of the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) which will take place on November 27, 2024.
“A safe and successful Papua Pilkada is our shared responsibility. Let us maintain peace in the Land of Papua ahead of and during the Pilkada,” he appealed.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Ops, Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Bayu Suseno, also invited the public to support the TNI-Polri in efforts to maintain peace in Papua.
“Peaceful Papua is the responsibility of all of us. Let us maintain the peace of Papua together,” he said.
The performance of the Cartenz-2024 Peaceful Ops, which received support from various elements of society, reflects a shared commitment to maintaining security and peace in Papua. With increasingly close cooperation between the community and security forces, the hope for a Peaceful Papua is increasingly real.
