Jayapura – The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Adu Wanimbo alias Adu Magai is back in action in Intan Jaya, Papua. On Saturday (2/11/2024), Steven Wakari, 48, a woodworker from Manado, was shot dead while working at a wood processing location in Kali Wabu.
Head of Operations for the Cartenz-2024 Peace Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, confirmed the incident. “The victim was shot while working. JM, a witness who was with him, immediately ran for his life after hearing the gunshots,” he said.
He deeply regretted the violent act that occurred. Where the victim, who was a wood processing worker, was brutally shot while carrying out his work.
Head of Public Relations Task Force, Senior Commissioner Dr. Bayu Suseno, added that the leader of the KKB Kodap VIII Kemabu was suspected of being responsible for this attack. “This heinous act shows the cruelty of the KKB towards innocent civilians,” said Senior Commissioner Bayu.
Steven suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and head and slash wounds to the legs. The victim’s body is still at the Bilogai Health Center and is planned to be evacuated to Mimika on Sunday (3/11/2024). Security forces continue to pursue the perpetrators to maintain security in the area.
