KNPI Mimika: Let’s Prove Papua is a Land of Peace through Dignified Regional Elections

Mimika- Chairman of the DPD KNPI Mimika Awenes Magai Iminggawak invited all parties to respect each other’s differences, especially in determining who the leadership candidate will be in the regional elections in November 2024.

“Every citizen has the right to make his or her choices and we as citizens must respect that, those differences,” said Awenes Magai.

He also invited the public to make the regional elections a success while maintaining security, asking for peaceful regional elections.

“Peace is not only the duty of the security forces, but the duty and responsibility of all parties, including the community itself,” he stressed.

In the midst of the many issues being spread by unbalanced individuals on social media, Awenes Magai hopes that the public will be wiser in responding to these issues so as not to be provoked.

“Don’t be easily provoked, be wise in responding to issues circulating on social media, because that can cause security and peace to be disturbed,” he explained.

Magai asked the security forces to act firmly against certain individuals or groups who wanted to thwart the regional elections.

“We hope that individuals who want to thwart the Pilkada will be given a deterrent effect, because what is often said in the name of the Papuan people is not true. “Papuan people want change,” he stressed.

This young intellectual figure also advised people to grow up in Central Papua and especially Mimika, to prove together that Papua is a land of peace.

“Let’s prove that Papua is a land of peace and persuasion through regional elections that run smoothly and are secured,” added Magai.
