Jayapura – Kamoro Tribe Intellectual Youth Leader, Rafael Toarekeyau asked all parties to join hands to maintain security ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections on November 27.
“Even though during the election, our choices are different, let us remain united and join hands for peace. Different choices are normal,” he said in a written statement, Wednesday (23/10/2024).
The man who serves as Secretary of the Kamoro Bangkit Education Foundation (YPKB) also asked the public to understand more about the regional election process, so that they are not influenced by invitations or actions that lead to disruption of public order and security.
“We all know that there were several incidents that occurred related to the implementation of the election regarding who was right and who was wrong. For this reason, don’t be provoked by incitement or invitations from unrighteous individuals. There is a mechanism for everything,” explained Rafael.
Apart from that, it is up to the candidates who will compete in the Pilkada contestants to receive the final results, but if there is fraud, it is better to report it or follow the existing process without having to mobilize the masses.
“Everything has stages, let’s go through that route, without having to conflict with each other’s supporters,” he said.
Rafael also asked that no blood fall in the Land of Papua for the personal interests of certain individuals.
“Papua loves peace, not because of the interests of certain individuals, there are casualties. Let’s give an example to our brothers and sisters outside Papua, if the democratic party in Papua is safe and peaceful. Remember, anyone who lives in Papua is a brother without any discrimination,” he added.
