Jayapura– Task Force Peace Operation Cartenz-2024 along with Dogiyai Police succeeded in securing the Leader of the Paniai Armed Crime Group (ACC), Jemmy Magai Yogi, who also serves as the Chief of Staff of the West Papua Armed Forces In Pavisiii Army II Pemka (WPA).
The arrest took place in front of Dogiyai County Assembly Office on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 4.16pm WIT.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Task Force, Brigadier of Police Faizal Ramadhani, while confirmed said that, Jemmy Magai Yogi was involved in the shifting of ammunition from Nabire County towards Paniai County which passed through the jurisdiction of the Dogiyai Police Station.
“Our team received information that there was a shipment of ammunition allegedly brought by Jemmy Magai Yogi, KASAD Commander Division II Paniai. We then conducted intercepts in Dogiyai area and managed to arrest the suspect along with nine others,” said Brigadier Pol Faizal.
Kasatgas Public Ops Peace Cartenz-2024, Commissioner Pol Dr. Bayu Suseno, in his affidavit explained that the arrest took place when a white colored Hilux Double Cabin with PA police number 1646 HL crossed in front of the Dogiyai County Assembly Office. While stopped by a joint team of Peace Ops Task Force Cartenz-2024 and Dogiyai Police, a total of 104 rounds of ammunition were recovered, consisting of 56 rounds of caliber 5.56 mm and 48 rounds of caliber 7.62 mm.
“Currently the suspect along with evidence items have been secured at Cartenz Peace Operation Post-2024 in Dogiyai County for further development and investigation process,” said Police Commissioner Bayu Suseno.
Police Commissioner Bayu Suseno, added that Jemmy Magai Yogi has a criminal history, including stealing a firearm in 2015 and being involved in a shootout with the TNI in Bibida District, Paniai County, in May 2024.
“Jemmy Magai Yogi is also the younger brother of Damianus Magai Yogi, the Supreme Commander of the West Papua Army,” he concluded.
