Jayapura, October 15, 2024– The Chairman of the Grand Mosque of Papua Province, Abd. Kahar Yelipele, invited all Papuan people to maintain peace during the 2024 Regional Head Elections (Pilkada).
In his statement, Yelipele emphasized the importance of maintaining unity in Papua amidst political differences.
“We are now entering a political period, so let’s work together to maintain peace in Papua,” he said when met in Jayapura.
Yelipel emphasized that differences in political choices are normal and should not be a source of conflict or division in society.
“Differences in choices are normal, don’t let differences become a problem just because of differences in choices,” he added, inviting the community to remain wise and mature in facing the Regional Elections.
He also reminded the importance of maintaining Papua as a safe and peaceful region, likening it to “a blessed little heaven.”
“As a blessed little paradise, we must maintain a safe and peaceful Papua,” he said hopefully.
This call from Yelipele is expected to be a guide for the Papuan people in maintaining harmony and stability during the democratic process. By maintaining peace, Yelipele hopes that the Pilkada can run smoothly, creating a healthy and harmonious democratic atmosphere in Bumi Cenderawasih.
